Biography.
Helen Stenning took a job with the Foreign service department because she wanted to travel. She always dreamed of seeing the world she had always read about and heard about while living in her Thousand Oaks, California childhood home. After graduating college, taking her oath of service and jumping on a plane to London, she was off to live her childhood dream. Within a year, she had already been to most of the European countries, as well as Turkey, Algeria and Israel. Eventually, for the purposes of her sanity, she took a more permanent post at the United States Embassy in Paris. There, she met a French buisnessman named Jean-Felix Fontaine. Both were instantly smitten with one another. It wasn't long until the pair were married and even less time before Helen revealed that she was pregnant. The pair welcomed their first child, Andrew Felix Fontaine on October 4th, 1981.

Spending the first eight years of his life in Paris, Andrew started to attend school at age three and spent two months a year off for summer, traveling across the continent with his family, blessed with a wide exposure of culture and history and a very young age. Things changed in the summer after his eighth school year. His father accepted a job for his company's new United States office in Los Angeles and the whole family uprooted stateside. After a year in schools and with an extended summer break and while looking for something new to do, Andrew saw notice in the paper for a local commercial being shot. Enjoying the experience and proving to be something of a ham when the camera was rolling, he was regularly attending auditions and casting calls whenever he wasn't in school. His father didn't want him to miss out on a chance to earn a solid education, so his hobby of acting was restricted only to the summer time. Andrew was perfectly happy with this decision. He was able to balance school and spent a large part of his time in the summer attending auditions and shoots for commercials and extra work around Los Angeles. He was fortunate enough to earn a few small speaking roles, but nothing that set the world on fire. He had every intention of going to college and getting a "real" job that didn't involve the entertainment industry.

Everything changed when he was offered a career making role in the small budgeted Sling Blade. The role was significantly larger than anything eh had done before, as well as darker in tone and subject material. At first, his parents were hesitant about such a project, but they relented after they saw how much it meant to Andrew. The film was a sleeper hit, and earned Andrew rave reviews and notices. He became an "overnight success," despite having been working off and on for five straight years. Having matured in those five years, Andrew started to go out for more roles that suited his age. A notable supporting role in The X-Files movie was a follow up to Sling Blade. Then to fulfill the promise he made to his father, Andrew went on a two year hiatus from acting to have a fall back career. He attended a scenic painter's apprenticeship IATSE Local 829, learning painting techniques for both practical, scenic and small scale projects. While not something as stable and well paying as a law degree or accounting, he was thankful to have something he could walk into most any major city and receive work if it was available.

Once finished with the apprenticeship, Andrew returned to Hollywood and earned a role on the short lived, but well received sitcom "Undeclared." While only lasting a handful of episodes, the series put Andrew back on the map. The civil war epic Cold Mountain followed next, as well as the doomsday thriller Children of Men. Television came calling to him again with Sons of Anarchy, a drama on the FX Network about an outlaw motorcycle club with more than a few Shakespeare story twists. The show was a hit and is now in it's fourth season.

Andrew has remained the humble, sometimes quiet French boy from Saint Martin-Canal, just with a more stronger work ethic and a laid back attitude. He remains close to his family, spending as much time with them as he can either in the states or back with his father's side of the family in France. He's a vocal supporter of the American Cancer Society and the Race For The Cure foundation, after his mother's diagnoses with breast cancer.
